Post from laptop

Thursday, July 20, 2023

I generally add a pic right here to go along with the post but since I'm composing this from my laptop and not my phone, it's not as easy and I don't have any pics saved on this machine so screw it.

The $5 monthly payment to pay for this blog hosting failed bc my card wore out so I had to put a different card on here and while i was in here i figured i'd post something.

had a breakfast burrito for breakfast. wasn't horrible.

pretty nice life these days, very little stress.

okay, i guess that's it.

Have a great weekend, Go, Rangers!

I forgot that I can’t take a Twitter break

Tuesday, June 20, 2023

This technically doesn’t count as a Twitter post  because I have my blog programmed to automatically tweet whenever I create a blog post but that notwithstanding, it just dawned on me that even though I’m in the midst of a Twitter break where I haven’t tweeted in x amount of days, I’m not allowed to be doing this.

The reason I’m not allowed is because I PAY for Twitter. I sorta forgot that. It makes zero sense to NOT tweet when you’re paying a monthly fee TO tweet. Or at least have more posting options than people that aren’t subscribers.

I guess Elon might say I’m paying a monthly fee for more than just being able to edit tweets but as of yet I’ve seen no other real benefit I’m getting out of it.

An alternative to tweeting just because I don’t wanna feel like I’m wasting money is canceling my Blue subscription. After doing another dive into what I’m getting for Blue and finding that the only thing it seems they’ve added since I started paying for the dumb check mark is the ability to edit tweets for an hour now instead of 30 minutes canceling seems like a good idea.

It’s not like I can’t re-subscribe if they actually come up with some features that make it worthwhile later.

Anyway. Good talk, Rusty. Have a great week!

I’ve always called it the “Green Building”

Wednesday, June 7th, 2023

The tallest building in downtown Dallas I’ve only ever called “Green Building” because at night it’s usually lit up in green but apparently it’s also called the “Pickle Building”. You learn something new every day! I put it into bard.google.com (Google’s AI machine) and this is what it spit out…

The "Pickle Building" in Dallas is a nickname for the Bank of America Plaza. It is a 72-story skyscraper that is the tallest building in Dallas and the 14th tallest building in the United States. The building was completed in 1985 and is known for its green argon lighting, which gives it a resemblance to a pickle.

The nickname "Pickle Building" was first used by locals in the early 1990s. The building's green lighting was chosen because it is more visible from a distance than red or blue lighting. The building's architect, Philip Johnson, was not a fan of the nickname and reportedly said that it made the building look like a "giant green zucchini."

Despite Johnson's objections, the nickname "Pickle Building" has stuck. It is now a commonly used term to refer to the Bank of America Plaza and is even used by the building's owners. In 2017, the Bank of America Plaza launched a campaign called "Light Up the Pickle" that allowed people to vote on the building's color scheme. The winning color scheme was a mix of green, blue, and orange.

The "Pickle Building" is a popular tourist destination and is often featured in movies and television shows. It is also a popular spot for weddings and other special events.

Bard A.I. experiment test using the Texas Rangers

Monday, April 3rd, 2023
Hmmm. Should I use Google’s new A.I. experiment to start a Rangers blog? This edited result is pretty amazing…

The Texas Rangers are off to a hot start to the 2023 season, winning their first three games. This has led to an increase in their playoff odds, which are now at 20% according to FanGraphs, which uses a variety of factors to calculate playoff odds, including team performance, schedule strength, and injuries.

The Rangers have a number of factors working in their favor. They have a strong offense, currently ranked 1st in the MLB in runs scored. They also have a solid rotation, especially with the addition of Jacob deGrom in the off-season. In addition, the Rangers have a favorable schedule in the early part of the season, which should help them build on their early success.

However, there are also some challenges the Rangers will need to overcome if they want to make the playoffs. They play in a tough division, with the reigning World Series champion Houston Astros and Los Angeles Angels, both expected to be contenders. In addition, the Rangers have a history of struggling in the second half of the season.

Overall, the Rangers are in a good position to make the playoffs in 2023. They have a strong team and a favorable schedule. Things are looking up in Texas.

TikTok hates me but Tori doesn’t

Monday, March 20, 2023

I made a funny vid using my latest BumFunNFT I guess I won or something because he just showed up in my ledger the other day.

Not sure what TikTok found to be so offensive about it but I did say I was gonna shove those dildos up your… (then it cut off.) Actually I’ll just share the vid below.

Where are the naked adults in that? Lol.

Off the subject, Tori challenged me to write a blog today and so I did. Thanks for the motivation, T!

Have a great week, 3-5 people that will read this! I love you!

The Apple Fitness app calls me Shit

Wednesday, January 11, 2023

The Apple Fitness app is encouraging “Shit” (aka Me) to “stay in the groove” after doing more than enough to meet my fitness goal yesterday.

There were a couple of reasons why that was so easy to do yesterday but the biggest contributing factor was this gorgeous weather we’re having in North Texas these days. Unseasonably warm temps along with sunny skies make it easy to opt to walk places where I might normally choose the bus or Uber.

Today is also supposed to be another beautiful day but I don’t really have anything planned to go do. I’m going to think of something, though, because not only will moving around outside improve my physical health, it also does wonders for my mental health. The kids call it “touching grass.” I’ll end up touching plenty of grass today.

I was asked by a superior at work yesterday about my plan where continuing to work at U-Haul is concerned. I’ve been hinting at moving on from there since my eyes are no longer hindering me from getting a much better paying job. At the time I didn’t have a definitive answer for him but now that I’ve had some time to think about it I still don’t know the exact timing but what I DO know is that I want to continue to work in a capacity that keeps me moving and preferably outside.

Yesterday also marked 19 months of not drinking and gambling and when I look at lifestyle changes that have kept me on track not being chained to a desk is one of them.

So I guess the goal now is to find challenging work that allows me to continue to toil in the elements but pays significantly better than U-Haul. I gotta believe there are plenty of jobs to be had that meet that requirement and don’t leave me to beat down physically when the day is done.

As always, I’ll pray and trust that God will provide for me in the end.

Fun bus story

Tuesday, December 13th, 2022

I left work a little early today and timed the 3 bus perfectly.

For some reason I brought my empty McDonald’s coffee cup with me like the bus driver would ever stop at McDonald’s so I could get a coffee refill. But he DID stop. Not bc I wanted a coffee refill, but bc he had to piss. Lol. Nice!

He used the bathroom and I got more coffee and everybody was happy.

At least until we got to the bus stop where I transfer from the 3 to the 1 bus for the rest of my ride home. We got there a minute too late. Doh!

When that happens I can either wait until the next 1 bus comes (which could be a half-hour) or walk a couple blocks to the train and take either the orange or green line home.

Happily the timing worked out perfectly and a train came within a couple of minutes of me getting to Pearl Station.

Have a great day and here’s hoping you too enjoy fun little wins today and every day.

Peace and love!

Good karma rewarded (by Credit Karma)

Wednesday, December 6th, 2022

The cool thing above happened today but was it just out of the blue? Let’s look at what I did prior to this happening..

1. Took my father to have a medical procedure done.
2. Got a bear claw at a donut shop and threw the change in the tip jar.
3. Helped my mom’s caretaker convince mom to take some pills she didn’t want to take.
4. Tipped an Uber driver for a nice ride.

Did these acts of generosity and kindness have anything to do with getting some free surprise cash from Credit Karma? I like to think so.

Maybe I’ll keep it up. Happy hump day! Peace!

Life and God want more for us

Friday, December 2nd, 2022

If you’re paying attention, life starts to present a future to you in subtle, small ways that doesn’t include some of the things that are currently prevalent in your life and one of those things for ME is using public transportation.

The signs are starting to add up that life is guiding me in a different direction whether I want to go there or not.

One would think this is a good thing but I have to admit that I’ll miss the days of riding the bus and train.

While there are certainly times I’d rather be driving my own car like a normal person, there’s a ton of free entertainment on the buses and trains in the form of crazy people and/or operators. They give me fodder for some of the funniest TikTok vids I produce.

But one thing I’ve learned over the past 18 months of sobriety is that it’s futile to fight against where God and the universe wants you to be. You’re going there so just enjoy the ride.

So that’s just what I’ll do. Even when it’s behind the wheel of a brand spankin new car.

Have a great weekend! I love you!

Book About Nothing sighting in NY bookstore

Thursday, November 10, 2022

In 2010 I wrote and published “NickSilly’s Book About Nothing”.

I believe it sold 32 copies worldwide.  Lol. And I think a woman in Australia bought like 8 of them.

Yesterday an old flame called me from New York and said she saw my book in a bookstore there. Haha, wow! I hadn’t thought about that book OR HER in 10 years or more!

So I decided to go into my Kindle Direct publishing account and check the status of the book. There needed to be some updates made to certain details in the book description, etc. that were out of dated so I fixed those problems and re-published it.

While I was in there I went ahead and downloaded a sample of the book and reread the beginning for the first time in years. It made me laugh.

I still need to go in and fix the out-of-date details on the paperback version as well but I’ll do that later.

Here’s the link to the Kindle version if you want to go check it out:
