An argument for NOT playing Hurts Sunday night

Saturday, December 9, 2023
At the moment the Eagles are the best team in the NFL.

Jalen Hurts is a HUGE part of that dominance being one of the best QBs in the league. Without him, the Eagles would be mediocre at best.

That being the case, if I were the Eagles and my end goal is winning the Super Bowl, I would be very hesitant playing him in a game against a ferocious Dallas defense and risk him getting hurt.

NOT playing him would basically mean conceding the game vs. the Cowboys but that doesn’t really matter because the Eagles have a soft schedule the rest of the season and the Cowboys have a hard one. Even if the Cowboys win this game, it’s very likely the Eagles will still win the division and have home field throughout the playoffs.

That being the case, it makes sense to rest Hurts this week, ensuring his health for the stretch run.

Hell, even with Hurts playing, the Cowboys will probably STILL win the game and then all you did was risk him getting injured for no reason.

As a Cowboys fan, I’m happy the Eagles organization has too much pride to even consider a longer-term strategy such as this so it’s all a moot point really.

But.

If the Cowboys put the HURT on Hurts tomorrow night? Don’t say I didn’t warn ya.
