Not unlike a billion others on Thursday night I watched a very young Russian figure skater fail miserably in the Olympics. And also like the rest of us I was so sad for her and immediately pulling for her inevitable comeback.
It’s a very unique situation in sports where you start a comeback even BEFORE you fail in the performance that warranted the comeback.
If she had won the gold medal they would have taken it away from her and she would be making a comeback to win it again legitimately. As it is, she has to come back now to win it for the first time.
So no matter the outcome, she was on the comeback trail. She probably knew that subconsciously if 15-year old girls even have a subconscious. Lol.
The silver lining is that now she has the entire world rooting for her comeback even more than she would have had she not skated so poorly so alls well that ends tragically.
Go, Kamila! See ya in 2026! 🥇
